St. Helen’s Mothers’ Union is the small local branch of what is a HUGE worldwide Christian organisation with 4 million members in 81 countries.
Mothers’ Union works towards improving and supporting family life through prayer and practical support. Our branch meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 1.30pm in St. Helen’s church hall. Our meetings are varied but they always start with prayers. Each year we have two joint meetings with South Darley Mothers’ Union when we usually have a visiting speaker. We have lunch outings in the summer and at Christmas and we also have a pancake lunch and a coffee morning to raise funds. For the past few years we have been involved in a knitting project. Our members knit 6 inch squares which we then sew together into colourful blankets for people in need.
We are part of Wirksworth Deanery which holds joint services and events including Lady Day, a Quiet afternoon and a Deanery Festival. We also attend Diocesan events such as the annual Festival services and the conference.
Membership of Mothers’ Union is open to anyone, male or female, single or married, providing you have been baptised as a Christian and support our aim and objectives.
